Between working in the fields and managing the day-to-day operations of the farm, it’s not always easy to stay up to date on the latest advances in field crops. Yet access to reliable information that reflects real-world conditions remains essential for making sound decisions. To make research more accessible, the Centre de recherche sur les grains (CÉROM) is launching Grains de savoir, a new podcast series designed for producers and advisors.

Available as of June 2nd 2026 on major streaming platforms, Grains de savoir offers a series of 10 episodes, each about 20 minutes long, throughout the summer. The concept is simple: one topic per episode, presented in a clear and practical way. Each podcast features a CÉROM researcher, often joined by an agronomist and/or a producer, to bring together different perspectives and make direct connections to real-world situations. The series is in French, but English subtitles are available.

The topics covered address several key issues in field crop production. Some episodes focus on diseases, such as wheat rust or soybean white mold, exploring solutions such as the use of biofungicides or the development of decision-making tools. Others focus on insect pest management, with discussions on the western bean cutworm, the bean leaf beetle, and the swede midge in canola. The series also highlights innovative approaches, such as biocontrol using small parasitoid wasps or the integration of winter canola into crop rotations to reduce pest and weed pressure. Issues related to aphid and virus outbreaks are also addressed.

Easy to listen to in a tractor, car, or between tasks, these podcasts provide producers and advisors with support throughout the season, offering relevant content as decisions need to be made in the field.

To improve your pest control strategies, optimize your interventions, or simply gain a better understanding of what’s happening in your crops, log in now and let the research come to you!

This initiative is part of the mandate entrusted to CÉROM by the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPAQ), which has enabled the implementation of a research program on crop protection in field crops between 2023 and 2026.

This project was funded by the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ), through the programme d’Innovation bioalimentaire (2023-2028).
